San Francisco Seed Library is now ready for you to borrow and donate seeds. You'll find us at two of our branches:
The seed Library is a project of TransitionSF to help create a more resilient San Francisco. We would like to research and harvest seeds that do well in our micro climates. You may want to look through our seed catalog and the Planting Calendar to determine what and when to plant in your neighborhood. With our climate, timing is important. Also, not every plant will do well in each neighborhood. At this time, our branches carry different seeds, but it is our goal to have each Seed Library branch have a complete set of plants that do well in the neighborhood the library is in. If you are interested in your neighborhood having a Seed Library branch, contact us and we'll help you make that a reality. We are a volunteer driven effort. We accept seed donations all year long.
